How to approach lighting in a double-height space
Begin with the shape of the space and the views through it. Then compare layered curves with a constellation of individual pendants.

A tall room gives a lighting composition room to be seen from more than one level. The first decision is not a product dimension. It is where the light will be viewed: from the entry, along the stairs, from an upper landing, or across the room.
Start with the views
Walk through the space and note the positions from which the fitting will be most visible. A composition can read as one silhouette from below and as a series of separate elements from above. Photographs from those positions are more useful than a single front-facing image of the empty room.
Look at the ceiling and the volume below it together. The opening, walls and nearby furniture all affect how much visual space a suspended form can occupy. If the project is still early, an approximate plan and ceiling height are enough to begin a conversation.
Compare two visual directions
Layered curves create a connected outline. In the Butterfly collection, overlapping arcs can be considered as a continuous sculptural gesture. Their effect depends on the orientation of the composition relative to the main views.
A group of individual pendants reads differently. The Xingpo catalogue setting shown above uses separated points of light through a tall volume. The rhythm can be considered across the height of the room rather than as one horizontal line. Our staircase and double-height guide places these two directions side by side.
Record the conditions before choosing
Before narrowing the design, gather a few photographs, approximate room dimensions and anything known about the ceiling. A drawing can help show the opening and the intended viewing positions. These details make it easier to discuss scale, suspension and installation with the right project context.
Catalogue images are references to a composition, not proof that it fits a particular room. Final dimensions and installation requirements should be checked for the selected design and site. If you have a space in mind, share the details with Jun Lighting and start with the direction you prefer.
